"Until the Show-Me cars show up...." is kinda like tracks saying you bring the cars will up the payout.....doesn't happen, hasn't happened. What is the plan if they do show up....oh well, no need to change anything since we got em comin now and have lots of cars. Not meant to negative or a bash of ANY kind, but we've all heard this story before. A little give and take from BOTH series would benefit all concerned IMO.
Gary

jasonsensational80 wrote: I gotta say... I'm actually a strong supporter of someone in SWMO going completely crate on their late models. Things are really taking off in Northern Arkansas with Crate cars right now. Mooney Starr is paying big money and getting names to show up for crate races... Moyer Jr, Frye, Floyd, Taylor, even GRT is running a House car with Raymond Merrill... Someone needs to step up and pay a good purse ($700-$1000 to win weekly) and say 'crates only'. They will show up. And a lot of the guys in A-Mods and Factory Stocks would give a hard look at them. Lucas has the bucks and the 'stroke' to pull them off and make them the new thing in Southwest Missouri. And with the rumblings of Mooney Starr taking his crate late models on the road in a traveling series next year, it could give crate guys a few options. Because options are why crates aren't built in our area. Why build a car you can only run at one place with or you have to run with 'mixed rules' cars. It could be the right time for someone to step up. Just my opinion. I am happy the crate deal is taking off down their my biggist reason I dont run down their is the miles and now they dont have much for teching the motors, I told mooney starr that would ruin crate racing when i talked to him this last winter, and it is becoming a problem for them that is why I like the fastrak deal if you get beat the guy had a better setup or just out drove you, and for getting crates their at lucas is two main reasons the weight and hp yes a crate can run with the showme and umla if the track is slick but making it through the heat when it is tacky is hard. and then running and trying to pass the cars in the feature we dont have that extra hp to kick in to get around cars we cant afford to make a mistake it shows up big time. crate,s can work if they tech hard. on my 602 motor I have 4 1/2 years on it run good still because of that saving on the motor we have spent money on better equipment such as hauler, shocks , wheels chassies etc.jmo My question is what we ask 20 years ago tech the cars and that will keep down the cost but the powers to be did not heed it and now we have A mods b mods, sport mods, same goeses for street stocks and late models If you tech it the cost will come down

5 year ago when crates was getting started I call and ask crate drivers from as far away as kentucky Indania they all said the same that if they would pay $1000,00 to win and decent payback and about $100 to $200 to start the would drive that far to come to missouri and race weekly. but none of the tracks would listen to me. or the drivers . crates are a blast close racing and the motor keeps the cost down. If they are teched,It will work. if not your wasting your time to build a crate series.

Well... Mooney may be hurting or helping the crate deal next year. Word is he's planing a crate race with a $150,000 purse.

Guess you guys wish they wouldn't tech Now uh? Was somebody DQ'd, if they were then it should be publicly known, you cheat you pay the price. So lets here it if there was. Now on the motor deal, I have been working too much to finish my car this season. I have a new open motor that has a backordered part for the dry sump. So unable to race so far this year. However the payout is making putting my ULMA motor back togethere for next season look like a great idea. It seems that the cars are pretty even. The spec motors have won, the ULMA motors have won, and crates run good too. There should not be more rule changes. If you want to open up the class to allow the spec motors do more then why not just allow open guys to run with added weight. Similar to State Fair tried, or MARS series runs. The spec motor cars are fast right now, if you give them more they will dominate. Crates are competitive without changes. Just keep it the same, payout is good, car count seems good. Why change it, so spec cars might show up, or crate cars might show up. This X number of crate guys from halfway across US said they would come is not realistic to count on. Keep the cars like they are or open up to let open boys play. You have a good even match right now. Crate motor only series will struggle for cars, they do everywhere else here, why piss off the Show me and ULMA guys, just run an even field like now. To get full fields, you must continue like your doing, counting on running off ULMA cars to run some might show up show me cars, or running off the show me cars and ULMA to run a crate only class. Its even right now, keep it that way, I will put my ULMA back in for 11, i will not buy a crate or junk a ulma motor for a show me one. I think keeping rules stable will only keep the car count growing.
