Just wondering if your going to let aluminium spec motors run don't you. think you should have the equipment to check compression? Full blown open late models can run at Lucas if you have no way to check compression.or cubic inches. Vance Wilson sure has been checking out and winning by a awful lot with his "spec motor"

Because there is a couple people running open aluminum dry sump motors! They have no way to check to see if they are 10 to 1 compression or under 358 cubic inches. So how do we know its a spec motor? Just assume they are telling the truth?

The heads and intake should have a stamp on them... Most all spec cars run dry sump... (there are a few that don't)... But I think what you are talking about is all aluminum 'open' motors running as 'spec' cars. If they are it doesn't help because a ULMA guy is winning a lot. Haha

Vance wilson has won 3 weeks in a roll and the first win was his first time at the track. And he supposibly has a spec motor. also larry jones was running up in about the top 3 then for some weird reason he dropped back to 6th right at the end of the race. just one spot out of being teched? maybe he didnt know they could check to see if he was running a all aluminum open motor

spec motors are not all aluminum. Justin Wells runs a spec motor and stomps on everyone, it's not all motor that wins races.

Oh I assumed he was a ULMA guy because I've never seen him at a Show-Me Series race. Motor isn't everything. And even the most cheated 'spec' motor wouldnt make more than 620 hp. Unlimited cubic inch steel motors can make 750 hp.

The 'spec' motor is a great combo.. Just enough HP... And you can turn them 8500 all day long.

maybe the post should read tech rather than spec motors, because a spec motor is not all aluminum

I was just throwing exaggerated numbers out there for an extemely cheated up spec motor. Most our 'spec' motors ranged from 515-530 hp... But your right the are perfect for dry slick. And yes 'ulma' is right they are just aluminum heads.

And my spec motor is legal i have got sixth and eighth with the mars late models and i would like to see lucas stay heavy and you would probally see the difference but it always slicks off

I can assure you that Vance Wilson's motor has been inspected by ULMA Officials. He not only runs at lucas but at Callaway, and ULMA does the tech inspections there.
I can say it has been tech'd and is legal under ULMA rules.

It is not a aluminum motor, it is a ShowMe/IMCA Spec Motor.
Vance is a great driver, he has been around modifieds and lates for many years and knows how to wheel them.

Sure he is winning alot, but till something is found not legal, he is doing it with skill and good equipment
